Where to Find Them

Horses appear in small herds in plains biomes.

Taming Horses

Horses must be tamed before you can ride them.

To tame a horse, approach it with nothing in your hand and right click on it.

You will now be riding the horse&emdashfor a second or two, until it throws you off. Try again, and again, until finally you see some red hearts and the horse lets you stay on.

It usually takes 3–5 attempts, but you may be luckier or unluckier than that.

You can make the process quicker by feeding the horse first.

Horse Abilities

Different horses have different health, jump strength and speed. You can see a horse’s health once you tame it, as you can ride it and count its hearts on your screen.

There is no way to tell a horse’s speed and jump strength at a glance, you’ll just have to have a go.

Jump strength

Most horses can jump over obstacles that are 3 blocks high, but some are worse at jumping than that and a few are even better, with the very best horses able to jump high fences.
